In typical fashion, we have been catapulted into spring…. From -28c nights, we jumped to -8c in a three day period, skipping everything in between. So, with days hovering around freezing, the Crafter and kin are out on the lakes every possible moment to enjoy the best and last of winter. Soon (a week or so from now) the long hours of sun will turn our playground into a foot of slush! But, yesterday, the kids snowmobiled until they were numb, while the Crafter and friends did a little kiting. Here are a few gratuitous pics:

Now you know what to do for fun up here!
Concurrently, the Crafter is gearing up for spring and basking in the joys of a new divided mold. Here is a small batch of lovely gardening-hands soap. Gentle scrubbiness provided by cornmeal and scented with a blend of rosemary, mint and sweet orange essential oils (can’t wait to get my hands in the earth and give this a whirl):

And here, finally after 6 months of trials (and oh-so-many errors) is the unveiling of ‘Polar Nights’. The Crafter’s homage to the spectacular Aurora Borealis: which makes our long dark winter worth it! This soap tries to capture the pulsing, undulating ribbons of light that dance above us night after night. The Crafter vacillated for a long time on how it should be scented but finally settled on the simple, brisk freshness of just mint and rosemary. Divine!
whatta mold!
