Meatloaf for Baby

meatloaf

Once again the crafter is focused on food. Happily, I am not eating any of it this time (unlike those smartie chocolate chip cookies).

One of the gals here (whom I don’t actually know yet)  just had her second baby and wasn’t interested in being showered in infant gifts again.  So, several of us hit our kitchens and cooked up some easy, freezable meals for the family.  What a genius idea, eh? I mean who wants to mess about with supper with a new-born and a toddler and no sleep.

So I made the best comfort food ever:  meatloaf!!  But here is the twist, I made them in little individual portion sizes (muffin tin magic).  I know, I know…, genius!

Don’t they look delish? I can only hope they make a new mom’s life a little easier (and tastier). Of course, I threw in some Baby’s Breath soap and a little Cheeky Bummy Belly Jelly too…. I don’t know why I don’t make and freeze more meals for my own family. I need to plan better.

Been drying some of my calendula from the garden. I just love the glowing orange petals:

I don’t have enough this year to infuse, so I bought a bagful and will try a lovely infusion in almond oil to add to some creams and soaps. I am using these homegrown babies to top my new patchouli-oakmoss blend soap.

Check out my latest project/experiment, liquid hand soap:

A great blend of coconut, olive and sunflower oils scented with a spectacular black raspberry-vanilla. Oh my…. Juicy and tart and yummy…. I will be soaping with this scent again soon! I also scented a batch with orange-ginger and one with cucumber mint…. I spend a lot of time washing my hands this week (and making the kids do it too).

Also been painting my dd’s room a frosted petal pink (to surprise her). So girl, but it makes her happy. And just finished ds’ new corner shelf too. Used the last of that great lime colour (see bookshelf pic in previous post) plus a little soldier blue. Pics to come.

Frankly, I had been feeling a little morose and unproductive lately. But looking at the past week in writing now, I think I have actually accomplished a few things….

I have a couple of new soaps to show off soon, but I need to go and wash the paint off my hands and make a gin and tonic.
