Idle Hands…

NOT doin’ the devil’s work here: I thought some pics of recent projects would be a nice diversion. How ’bout cookies without calories:

Smarties take everything up a notch!

Moving the kids into new bedrooms necessitated a change in furniture and a renewed need for storage pieces (desperate need, really). Thank heaven for Ana White’s ‘Knock off Wood‘ site. I whipped up a couple of bookcases first, as their books had no home whatsoever. Then I moved on to a modification of her farmer’s bench to make a little room for shoes in the front hall closet:

Should have take the photo before putting it to use

The next few projects include a tall standing bookshelf for her, a corner shelving unit for him (those plans I will have to invent), and a long storage bench for the front  hall.

Since I had some wood scraps leftover, I put together a small tester log and a lovely long log mold for soaping. It holds over 5L of soap!! Here I am testing the first batch (‘She’):

That’s when I ran out of coconut oil (naturally).

We have the most amazing glass cooperative here in Yellowknife. They rescue bottles and containers and the like and transform them into beautiful things…, things I want. This past weekend I took a little workshop there. Here is my new guest bathroom cup:

I love this! It is from a Black Tower wine bottle. Cool, eh? We have a LOT of ravens here, so I thought it appropriate.

So now I am thinking…. Wouldn’t this make for awesome candles?!!! Hmmmmmm….
